Nashville Kicks Off Christmas With Tree Lighting And Parade

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tens of thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Nashville for the city's 60th annual Christmas parade.

The evening started with the 5K Rudolph's Red Nose Run at LP Field. The 32nd annual race benefited NeedLink Nashville.

Mayor Karl Dean flipped the switch on the city's official Christmas tree at Public Square. The 38-foot Norway Spruce was donated by the West family in Joelton.

At 7 o'clock the 60th Annual Nashville Christmas Parade got underway. The Goodlettsville Little League All-Stars served as Grand Marshals and led the paraded through downtown.

This year's parade had 85 participants, 15 marching bands, and 8 giant balloons.  This year's parade is the largest in Nashville's history.

The theme of this year's parade was "A Christmas Salute", paying tribute to not only the military, but everyone who works to make Nashville a better place.
