Heavy Rains Surround Pleasant View Home

PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn. - When Natalie Garrett bought her Pleasant View home three years ago, her real estate agent never told her she was buying lakefront property, but after a weekend of heavy rain, she is now surrounded by water.

"It causes problems for everyone in the neighborhood, not just me," says the mother of three.

On Sunday morning, Natalie's driveway and front yard were surrounded by close to a foot of water. Both of her cars had to be parked on the street for fear they would be flooded and ruined.

"I've contacted Cheatham County. The county tells me it's not their responsibility; they say it's the developer of the subdivision's problem," Natalie adds.

Natalie believes the water backs up because of a culvert and drainage pond across the street from her house that aren't working properly. Anytime there is a heavy rain she says, she gets flooded out.

"I love nature, but I don't like to be in the middle of it where I feel helpless and can't do anything," she added.

Neither the county nor the developer has offered to help fix the problem.
