Overturned Tractor Trailer Backs Up Traffic On I-24E

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Interstate 24 east has re-opened at the merger with Interstate 40 near downtown Nashville after a tractor trailer crashed into a guard rail.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. east of the Silliman Evans Bridge, near exit 50A. It appeared the tractor trailer crashed into the guardrail, and then became detached from the cab.

There were no reports of injuries.

It was unclear what caused the crash, or if wet roads were a factor.

The roadway was cleared by 1:15 p.m.

The official Grand Opening will be held Monday morning for the new Music City Center. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will kick off at 9:00 a.m., then Mayor Karl Dean will give his State of Metro address.
