CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Montgomery County Commission has selected one of its own commissioners to serve out the term of sheriff after the previous sheriff, Norman Lewis, died last month.
A local paper reports Commissioner John Fuson, who had been a corporal and a field training officer for the sheriff, was selected from a field of four other candidates during Monday night's meeting.
After being sworn in by County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, Fuson resigned his commission seat to take the sheriff's position. He will finish Lewis' term, which ends in 2014.
