John Giles, Jr.
CROSSVILLE, Tenn. - A Cumberland County grand jury has indicted a 61-year-old man in the killing of his girlfriend.
The first-degree murder indictment was returned Wednesday against John Giles Jr. of Crossville. He is charged in the November 7 death of 58-year-old Kimberly Ann Batty, who authorities found fatally strangled and beaten in her Fairfield Glade home
Sheriff's Investigator Casey Cox said Giles made the call to E-911 on the night of the homicide. Investigators found that Batty and Giles had been in a relationship for several months, and she was preparing to separate herself from him.
Giles was arrested at his home after the indictment was returned and booked into the Cumberland County Justice Center in lieu of $2 million bond.
