Man Critically Injured After Crashing Truck Into Utility Pole

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in a crash that left a 20-year-old man critically injured.

Clarksville Police said the man was driving a Chevrolet S-10 on Crossland Avenue around 8:20 p.m. Thursday when the truck went off the right side of the roadway onto the sidewalk, and hit a utility pole.

The driver was partially ejected out of the driver's side window, and it took emergency responders approximately 25 minutes to extricate him from the truck.

He was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville in critical condition. He suffered internal, head, and leg injuries.

Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol may have been involved. His identity was not immediately released.

The investigation is ongoing.
