NASHVILLE, Tenn.- It was graduation day for several colleges and universities across the state, but it was a very unique graduation at Lipscomb University when both a mother and daughter were awarded degrees.
Lynn Hopkins and her daughter Kelcee Hopkins were able to walk across the stage during commencement at Allen Arena. Lynn got a Master's degree in education and Kelcee got a Bachelor's degree in Spanish.
"Didn't really plan it this way. It just ended up falling like this. And she's my baby; she's the youngest one. I started teaching in pre-school with her. And then I'm gonna graduate with her," said Hopkins.
Saturday's celebration is a family affair with three generations of family watching them graduate. Lipscomb handed out 430 degrees on Saturday, double the number of graduates five years ago.
