JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -
Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist is preparing his city for a month of miracles.
Gist told The Jackson Sun that he is enlisting help from
civic clubs, churches and nonprofit organizations to make the miracles happen
in April, which is National Volunteer Month. His vision is for the groups to
dedicate the entire month to working on a variety of projects around the city
that would improve it.
He said many of the
projects would probably involve home improvements and landscaping, but other
options are available.
Monique Merriweather, coordinator of the
initiative and neighborhood services director for Jackson, said she needs help
from local groups to determine where to focus efforts that will be part of the
"Month of Miracles."
