Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Some people are already lined up nearly a day in advance of the first day of the 18th annual Last Minute Toy Store.

Approximately 350-375 free tickets will be given out starting at 6:30 a.m. each day from Wednesday to Saturday on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Sixty-First Avenue United Methodist Church of Nashville. The church is located at 6018 New York Avenue, Nashville, TN 37209.

Once tickets are given out, each parent will be told what time to come back that day to select toys for each eligible child.

Parents do not need to register, but must bring:

  • Picture I. D. for parent or guardian
  • Proof of Davidson County residence
  • Parent's or guardian's Social Security card or something official with social security number on it
  • Social Security cards of children (or something official with SS #)
  • ID for children showing their names and ages
  • Proof of Income: (please bring all that apply on official letterhead: pay stub; government assistance letter; separation from work notice; child support letter; other proof of need)

The Last Minute Toy Store is for low-income families who did not pre-register with those other providers earlier in the fall.

The church has hosted the Last Minute Toy Store for the past 18 years, distributing free toys and other gifts to thousands of low-income children and youth who live in Davidson County. The church works in cooperation with "Toys for Tots" and other toy providers.

In 2011, the Last Minute Toy Store served 4,674 children and youth from more than 1,400 families, and distributed more than 20,000 toys/gifts to go along with books, oranges, and candy canes given to each child.
