Officer Cleared In Dog Shooting Case

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Officials have determined that a Clarksville police officer who shot and killed a woman's dog chained in her backyard didn't do anything wrong.

After an internal investigation, police chief Al Ansley said officer Todd Bell felt threatened, and acted in self defense when he killed dog, Judy Allen's pitbull Bonnie. Allen said the dog might have startled the officer, but she still didn't consider that enough reason to shoot the animal.

Officer Bell was chasing a runaway teen at the time, and cut through Allen's yard. Bonnie was chained in the back. Allen said she hasn't received an apology from police.
