Crashes Cause Traffic Delays On Morning Commute

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The rain caused a messy morning commute for drivers across the mid-state on Thursday.

Multiple crashes were reported across Nashville interstates throughout the morning, some backing up traffic for more than an hour. By 9 a.m., most of the crashes had cleared, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation website.

There were no report of serious injuries.

In Smith County, the left lane of Interstate 40 at mile marker 263 has been blocked by a crash. TDOT said it won't be cleared until 1 p.m.

At one point, more than 2,600 Nashville Electric Service customers were without power, but only a handful of customers were without power by 8 a.m.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Wind Advisory for the mid-state until midnight. Winds could pick up to 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph.
