NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been charged after allegedly causing his pregnant girlfriend to lose their unborn child during a crash.

Gregory Parker, 54, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with two counts of attempted vehicular homicide and harassment.

A court affidavit said Parker was intoxicated and driving recklessly with his girlfriend and a witness in the car with him on December 1. The victim told police that Parker and his pregnant girlfriend had gotten into an argument about her leaving him. The affidavit said the witness heard Parker threaten to kill his girlfriend, their unborn child and anyone else in the vehicle.

He then began driving faster and swerving the wheel as if he was going to run off the road, according to the affidavit. It goes on to say that Parker jerked the wheel and crashed into a parked vehicle head-on.

The girlfriend, who was approximately two months pregnant, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with injuries to her face, legs, and chest. She also lost the child.

Parker was also hospitalized, but later released. The witness was injured, but did not go to the hospital.

After the incident, the girlfriend took out an order of protection against Parker.

Parker's bond was set at $500,000.
