NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A homeowner took matters into his own hands when thieves tried to steal his lawnmower from his home.

Ed Swift arrived home after dark to find his John Deere mower sitting in the middle of the driveway, and then he spotted a guy crouched behind it hiding. Swift confronted him and the guy ran off.

An affidavit said moments later a van drove up to the driveway, likely to load up the lawn mower. Swift made a citizen's arrest, and held the driver until police arrive.

The other thief was taken into custody down the road.

Both were charged with felony attempted theft. Their names were not immediately released.
