Three Bedford Co. Jail Escapees Captured

Posted: Updated:

BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - Three inmates who escaped the Bedford County jail early Thursday morning have been captured.

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office said 20-year-old John Vincent Lovvorn and 22-year-old James Bradley Lynch were taken into custody around 4:30 a.m. Friday by deputies from Warren and Bedford Counties.

Allen Ray Harris, 34, was taken into custody Friday morning at a motel in Murfreesboro.

Authorities said the trio escape through a back door of a kitchen inside the jail around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Captain Tony Barrett with the Bedford County sheriff's office said the three men were on breakfast duty when a deputy led them outside to throw away some trash.

Authorities said they believe one of the three men put something in the door, possibly a fork, to make their getaway.

The deputy said he checked it to make sure it was locked when they walked back inside the kitchen; however, the men were able to open the door using tools found after their escape.

They slid through a fence and got outside.

During their escape a Shelbyville police officer is said to have spotted the men, but they still managed to get away.

Deputies said the men were wearing orange jump suits when they escaped. They will face escape charges, which could add a minimum of one year to their current charges.

Harris had been held on a charge of failure to appear; Lovvorn was being held on charges of aggravated robbery, burglary, theft of property and vandalism; and Lynch had been charged with initiation of a process resulting in meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession and violation of probation.
