MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Rutherford County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a 14-year-old Blackman Middle School student after he admitted to making a bizarre threat.
"You just don't know what is going to happen. Our job is to find a threat and eliminate the threat," said Sheriff Robert Arnold.
Students alerted the school resource officer to a message written on the floor of a school bathroom on Monday.
"The kid took the time to spell out in toilet paper on the floor that he wanted to shoot his homeroom classroom," said Arnold.
Evidence photos obtained by News Channel 5 showed the words: "Bring Gun ... Shoot HR".
Investigators said in the wake of the Connecticut shootings every threat is taken seriously. They admit that a threat written with toilet paper might seem like a prank, but this one was of particular concern.
The school resources officer traced the threat to the teen and under questioning he admitted to making the threat and also told them he was possessed by a demon. At that point, he was placed under arrest and deputies went to search his home.
"Looking for weapons to see if he had anything hidden in his bedroom," said Sheriff Arnold, who added that they did not find anything.
The teen's parents have cooperated fully with the sheriff's department and will be working with juvenile court to get the boy a psychological evaluation and counseling. It's unclear if he will return to the school after the holiday break.
