Arrest Made In Lebanon Fatal Shooting

Posted: Updated:

LEBANON, Tenn. - A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Lebanon and two other shots fired incidents on Thursday afternoon.

Lebanon Police charged 27-year-old Michael Starks with criminal homicide in the shooting death of 21-year-old Desmine Watts.

Police said around 4 p.m. on Thursday officials received a 911 call about a man who'd been shot on the front porch of Starks' home on South Maple Street. When police arrived at the home they were unable to find the victim. They later discovered he had run about a block down the street and was found at a nearby business.

Watts was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Officials searched the South Maple Street home and also spent some time on Greenwood street, just a few blocks away. Shots were fired, but no one was injured. Detectives believe the two scenes are likely connected.

In addition to the two Lebanon scenes, a third scene was discovered in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40, near mile marker 225 in Mt. Juliet. Police said a driver called 911 because someone had fired shots into the driver's side door.

Three adults and two children were inside the vehicle, but no one was hurt.

Police said Starks was also the shooter in that incident. He was also charged with five counts of aggravated assault and five counts of reckless endangerment in connection with that shooting.

Starks was held in the Wilson County jail on $1 million bond. A motive for the shootings was not immediately released.
