DICKSON, Tenn. – Investigators said they are investigating the death of a woman in Dickson County on Saturday as a homicide.

Officers were called out to a home on Bishop Lane in Dickson Saturday morning. Kristin Helm with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Ashlee Long's mother and stepfather found her deceased in her bed.

A preliminary autopsy found she died of blunt force trauma.

The TBI said her husband, 23-year-old Morris L. Long, remained in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Wednesday.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said Long he stepped into traffic on Interstate 40 near McCrory Lane Saturday morning. He was hit by a large truck in what police called an attempted suicide. He was expected to recover from his injuries.

Investigators with the TBI were working to determine if the two events were connected.

Metro Police said Long was under investigation by authorities in Dickson County, but did not say if it was in connection to his wife's death.

No one has been charged with Ashlee Long's murder.
