Neighbor Calls 911 About Antioch House Fire

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A quick acting neighbor is being credited for helping save an Antioch home from being destroyed by fire early Christmas morning.

Victor Reed and his wife were able to call 911 before the fire got out of control at the home on Volunteer Drive around 2 a.m.

"We were in there wrapping gifts, and I smelled smoke and went upstairs. Thought my wife had burned something, and then I looked at the door and saw smoke coming around the back. So I ran out, and looked out here and saw smoke coming from the house," Reed said

Fire officials said the den and the backside of the home suffered significant damage. They have not determined what started the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Reed said the family that lives at the home, which includes three adults and five children, were on vacation.
