NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Department of Transportation crews spent most of their day preparing for the approaching winter weather, making sure everything was ready to go with de-icer trucks and units to help out with traffic accidents.
TDOT officials say they didn't see much of a problem on the roadways this morning in Nashville because the temperatures remained above freezing.
T-DOT says its paying special attention to bridges and overpasses because those ice first when the weather gets below freezing.
That's where at least one traffic accident was spotted Wednesday afternoon, that just happened to be across the way from the TDOT building, where those de-icing truckers were getting ready to move out.
"Ideally we'd like them to take their time," said Adam Perez with TDOT. "If traffic is slow you'd think you could get out there and be extra slow when the weather is like this."
TDOT is testing out a new type of de-icing truck this year, hoping to offer better coverage.
