Kentucky State Police: 2 Fatal Crashes Weather-Related

Posted: Updated:

DRY RIDGE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police said a winter storm has contributed to two fatal crashes in the state.

Police said a northern Kentucky crash that killed a Corbin woman was weather-related, marking the first confirmed state death from a storm that has killed a dozen people nationwide.

Trooper David P. Jones said 28-year-old Nora Green died Wednesday following a crash on Interstate 75 about 1 p.m. EST after her husband, Jacob Evens, lost control of the car he was driving.

Trooper Howard P. Blanton said the weather also contributed to a fatal crash in Garrard County. Police say 33-year-old Jason Grizzell of Lexington was traveling north on U.S. 27 when his vehicle crossed the center line and hit another one head-on.

Rain, sleet and snow fell across much of Kentucky on Wednesday.
