Police: Man Posts Fake Craigslist Job, Rapes Applicant

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A man has been arrested for a disturbing sex crime after he allegedly lured a woman using a fake Craigslist job posting.

Metro Police arrested 38-year-old Timothy Story on Wednesday after he allegedly raped a woman who had responded to his fake Craigslist ad for a receptionist position. The woman told sex Crimes detectives that she arrived at a home on Dr. D. B. Todd Boulevard to apply for the job just after 4 p.m.

During the "interview," the woman said Story attacked her and raped her when she went to retrieve her resume from her purse. The victim said that Story overpowered her, refused to let her leave, and sexually assaulted her several times.

The victim was ultimately able to get away and drove herself to Skyline Medical Center where she called police. After an interview with police, Story admitted to posting the fake ad. Officials are concerned this was not his first time running the scam.

Story was arrested and charged with three counts of rape, one count of sexual battery and one count of aggravated kidnapping. He was taken to the Davidson County Jail and held on a $425,000 bond.

Police urged any other women who may have had contact with Story, particularly which initiated through an Internet ad, to contact the police department's Sex Crimes Unit at (615)862-7540.
