Posted: Updated:

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. - An inmate on the run from Sumner County was arrested and put back behind bars Thursday.

According to the Sumner County Sheriff's Department, 35-year-old Stevie Robertson went missing Wednesday after one day furlough from the jail to receive medical treatment in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Police said after the doctor's appointment, Robertson stole a car and fled.

He was found late Thursday night by Kentucky police at a motel in Horse Cave, Kentucky just north of Glasgow. Police said a clerk recognized him from the news and called them.

Police said Robertson surrendered to troopers without any problems.

Robertson was in jail in Sumner County on vandalism and child sex charges.
