FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Police have identified the driver killed in Franklin's first fatal crash of 2013.
Chad Scism, 34, died after his vehicle overturned and struck a light pole after leaving the roadway while exiting Interstate 65 northbound to Cool Springs Boulevard east around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Witnesses said that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. Scism, of Thompson's Station, was wearing his seatbelt, and police said they do not suspect alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
Traffic investigators continue to interview witnesses and review evidence from the scene.
The ramp remained closed until just before 6 p.m. while the crash was investigated.
