Father Charged With Aggravated Child Abuse

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A father has been charged after his 7-week old daughter was brought to the hospital with multiple rib fractures and a head injury, according to police.

Wesley Eric Scott, 26, was charged with aggravated child abuse and booked into the Cheatham County jail.

The child was initially brought to Gateway Hospital in Clarksville on December 27, 2012 after the infant's parents said he tensed up, and went limp. They told doctors they thought he was having a seizure.

Clarksville Police officers were called to the hospital after doctors discovered the baby had multiple rib fractures, old injuries which were healing, and a new head injury. The baby was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

The Department of Children's Service was also called in to investigate the injuries. Doctors found the baby had 24 rib fractures, and bone skull fracture.

During an interview, Scott allegedly admitted to shaking the infant.

The Cheatham County Sheriff's Office took over the investigation since the family lives in Chapmansboro. Scott was held on $500,000 bond.
