LOS ANGELES - Huell Howser, the homespun host of public television's popular "California's Gold," has passed away. The native Tennessean died at the age of 67.
A spokeswoman for KCET-Los Angeles says Howser died Sunday night of natural causes.
"California's Gold" took viewers to many parts of the Golden State, with Howser delivering insights on its history and natural wonders in a distinctive twang from his native Tennessee.
KCET corporate communications manager Ayn Allen said the station will be airing a special on Howser Monday night.
Howser was born in Gallatin, Tennessee. He worked in television in Nashville before moving to California.
