NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A new market analysis said the SoBro district in Downtown Nashville could be primed for a big business boom, but that the homeless problem there might make development difficult.
The report says the area south of Broadway on Lafayette street could use several entertainment venues and shops featuring both local brands and national chains.
But the report says the impact of the Nashville Rescue Mission and downtown homelessness in general needs to be addressed before that new development could be successful, something the head of the Rescue Mission takes issue with.
"We need to come together and put our best thoughts together, with studies, to figure out what's the best way to attack this problem that we have," said Glenn Cranfield, director of the Nashville Rescue Mission.
The Metropolitan Development and Housing Authority asked for the market analysis, done by a group called Development Economics.
