NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A west Nashville thrift store is trying to catch a button bandit.
Folks at the This 'n' That thrift store say several months ago someone started stealing clothes buttons off garments at the store, and a few weeks ago it started up again.
All the proceeds from the thrift store go to the Saint Luke's Community House, so the thrift store is concerned the charity is losing out on money because of the crook.
Believe it or not, clothes buttons can go for quite a bit of money on sites like eBay.
"I know people collect buttons, they're very collectible," said thrift store customer Pam Barber. "But I don't know what they're doing with these buttons unless they're taking them and reselling them, and I think that's what they're probably doing."
Some of the loyal customers in the store today even offered to come by on their free time to keep watch over customers to make sure the thefts stop.
