NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested a Dickson County man for the murder of his wife.

Officers were called out to a home on Bishop Lane in Dickson on December 22, 2012, after 21-year-old Ashlee Long's mother and stepfather discovered her beaten to death in her bed.

Police said the morning after Ashlee was found, her husband 23-year-old Morris Long stopped his car on I-40 near the McCrory Lane exit and stepped into oncoming traffic. He was hit by a large truck in what police called an attempted suicide.

Morris Long was seriously injured and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. He was in critical condition, but survived his injuries.

After being released from the hospital, Morris was charged first degree murder for Ashlee's death. He was arrested Wednesday night and booked into the Dickson County Jail.
