BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – Authorities in Bedford County have found the body of a man missing since mid-December.
On Thursday, officials with the Bedford County Sheriff's Office said that the body of Matthew Tibbs was found in the Duck River. Tibbs had been missing from this Tollgate Road home since December 21, 2012.
His family discovered the back door open around 5:50 a.m. Though Tibbs was nowhere to be found, police discovered his truck, keys, phone, glasses and wallet were left behind. There was no sign of forced entry at the house, and investigators did not suspect foul play.
Police said Tibbs' body was found by Bedford County Rescue Unit and volunteers, using a cadaver dog, from Savannah Springs K-9 Center of Lenoir City.
