NewsChannel 5 Network (WTVF) in Nashville is one of the best news organizations in the nation. We are looking for a top notch reporter to join our team. The right person is competitive, a skilled writer, and a team player. You will work with the best photographers in the country in a new, state of the art newsroom. Two years experience and a college degree required. 

Essential  Functions

• Research stories by developing sources, attending news events, and continually monitoring news sources.
• Organize and set up interviews and video shoots.
• Field produce stories.
• Report live in the field on news stories and events.
• Review tape and write news stories.
• Create accurate content utilizing sound research and interviews.
• Create news content for use online.
• Engage viewers via social media tools.
• Assist news management team with logistical planning and placement of crews and resources.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Bachelor's degree in mass communications or related field.
• Minimum two (2) years experience as a television news reporter.
• Working knowledge of computers, photography, editing, and the Internet.      
• Strong broadcast writing skills. 
• Ability to work in a high pressure environment.   
• Ability to work outdoors, including in extreme weather conditions.
• History of successful operations in a team based environment.
• Ability to type, using a newsroom computer system.
• Flexibility to work as needed within station hours of operation, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Professional appearance and behavior.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment such as cameras and tripods of up to thirty pounds, and to transport such equipment across uneven terrain.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred

• Experience with updating news stories through social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter.
