RIVERGATE, Tenn.- Customers and police at a local mall got a scare Friday evening after a report of a hostage situation.
Chief Goodwin with Goodlettsville Police said that officers received a call around 6 p.m. that 100 people were being held hostage at Sears in Rivergate Mall and that there was a bomb being sent to Goodlettsville Police through Metro ECC.
Officials reacted quickly to the threat, clearing the mall and searching the Sears store. After a thorough search officers found nothing and customers and employees were let back into the store.
A short time later police arrested Daniel Hoffman after he admitted to making the call. Further investigation revealed that Hoffman had pulled the same prank in Phoenix. He was charged with two counts of filing false reports to police.
