MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- Police say they stopped two drunk young men joy riding in a stolen golf cart this week.

An officer reported that he had to swerve to avoid hitting the car as it weaved down East Main Street in Murfreesboro on Sunday.  He then pulled the golf cart over and arrested Andrew Whisenant, 21, and Steven Almanza, 22.

The officer says the two stole the golf cart from the Murphy Center on the MTSU campus and took it for a drunken spin downtown. Whisenant, the driver, is charged with DUI and theft. Almanza is charged with public intoxication and theft as well.

Both were booked into the Rutherford County Jail.
