LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Winter advisories or warnings are expected to affect a wide area of Kentucky.
A winter storm warning was in effect in some areas, and a winter weather advisory was also posted for some places, lasting until 9 a.m. EST Wednesday.
The National Weather Service office in Louisville said the affected area stretches from just east of Hopkinsville, northeastward through Elizabethtown, Lexington and Morehead. In Paducah, the weather service said some parts of western Kentucky also had a chance of light freezing rain or sleet.
Forecasters expect about a quarter-inch to a half-inch of ice accumulation in parts of central Kentucky with little or no sleet accumulation.
Light precipitation will begin across the advisory area Tuesday afternoon and is expected to intensify Tuesday evening.
Driving could become dangerous.
