250 Tennessee Guard Troops To Help With Inauguration
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Approximately 250 Tennessee National Guard soldiers and airmen will be assisting civil law enforcement with security for the 57th presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., on Monday.
The majority will be Army Military Police officers and Air Force Security Force members who will assist with crowd management and security for the event.
The troops are primarily coming from the 268th Military Police Company in Ripley and Dyersburg and the 252nd Military Police Company in Cleveland and Oneida. The Tennessee Air National Guard is sending personnel from the 134th Security Forces Squadron in Knoxville and the 118th Security Forces Squadron in Nashville.
In addition, a team of eight people from the 119th Command and Control Squadron in Knoxville will be assisting the Department of Transportation with a mobile satellite communications system.
