CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- The Distinguished Service Cross was presented to the family of a heroic Ft. Campbell solider killed in action.

On Wednesday, Audrey Shaw the widow of Staff Sgt. Eric B. Shaw, was presented with the Distinguished Service Cross. Staff Sgt. Shaw was killed in June 2010 after he saved the lives of 10 other soldiers during a mission to Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Army officials said during the mission the platoon was cut off from Shaw's squad and taking fire. Shaw rushed into the help the troops and led them to safety. Sadly Shaw was shot before he could get to safety himself.

Shaw left behind a wife and two young daughters living in Clarksville. He's also survived by his mother, Michelle Campbell. Campbell was also presented with a Distinguished Service Cross in her son's honor.

The Distinguished Service Cross is the nation's second highest award for valor.
