Over 200 Pounds Of Marijuana Found During Interstate Traffic Stop
DICKSON, Tenn.- Detectives in Dickson County seized nearly 300 pounds of marijuana during an traffic stop along Interstate 40 Tuesday.
DICE officials said that around 8 a.m. officers stopped a Nissan Altima near 166 mile marker on I-40E for traffic violations. After speaking with the driver and other occupants of the car, officers decided to search the vehicle.
While searching the car police found an external fuel tank mounted in the bed of the truck containing 154 pounds of marijuana. Further searching unveiled another 125 pounds of marijuana in various bundles. Officials said the drugs had a street value in excess of $250,000.
When detectives ran the driver's information the discovered he was wanted in Mexico for murder. Both the driver and the passenger of the car were arrested and taken to the Dickson County Jail.
The names of the suspects were not released due to the ongoing investigation.
