NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A routine traffic stop in Sumner County lead to police arresting a wanted fugitive.
Police in Racine, Wisconsin have been looking for 45-year-old Ryan King since late Wednesday night. Police said King shot a 44-year-old woman there. After the incident the Racine Police Department put out a nationwide alert to search for King's vehicle.
The alert was received in Sumner County and during a routine traffic stop Thursday afternoon in Millersville, an officer recognized King and noticed blood on his shirt. King was taken into custody without incident and police found a weapon in his car.
Police say he likely drove all night in an attempt to get away from the scene in Wisconsin. King has been taken to the Sumner County Jail and was awaiting extradition back to Wisconsin, which was expected to take two or three days.
