FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Part of a busy road in Franklin will be closed this weekend for construction.
Cool Springs Boulevard eastbound will be closed from Mack Hatcher Parkway to Windcross Court beginning at 8 p.m. Friday until Monday at 6 a.m.
The closure is part of a $22.8-million construction project to widen
Mack Hatcher Boulevard. It scheduled to be completed May 2014.
"We're just going to shut down the eastbound lanes so they can work on that particular side of the road. You know, they just can't do it safely with all the cars driving around them, they have to go 18 feet deep," said Beth Emmons from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Kirkland Floor to Ceiling is located right on the corner where construction will take place this weekend.
The store is having a big 30th anniversary sale on Saturday. The owner hopes customers will be able to find their way around the closure and to her story.
Salespeople have been telling customers who call about the road closure and giving them some optional routes.
"We're trying to direct them to come I-65 and get off at McEwen which is really close to our store and then they'll be making just one turn into our building at the corner of Mack Hatcher and Cool Springs Boulevard," said Hope Kirkland.
Signs will direct motorists to use Liberty Pike and Franklin Road for detours around the closure.
