RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. -- The victim was tied up, gagged and left to die. Now his mother is pleading for the capture of her son's killer.
"Not knowing what happened to you child is very difficult," said Vera Frazier.
Frazier buried her son two years ago after a violent home invasion. Investigators won't discuss the graphic details, but indications are that a group of armed men broke into the home, ambushed 30-year-old Dawayne Gooch, ransacked the home and then left him tied to a chair.
Neighbors said Gooch was found with an electric cord around his neck. Police have not released the cause of death.
"He didn't have any problems. He was a people person," said Frazier. Her son had no criminal history and no apparent enemies.
Frazier had maintained her silence for two years because it was simply to difficult to talk about the loss of her only son. She hoped and prayed for quick arrest, but now she's speaking out hoping it generates new leads for police.
"I'm just hoping at this point somebody knows something and that somebody comes forward," said Frazier.
