SMYRNA, Tenn. – Police have a suspect in custody who they believe used a counterfeit bill to make a purchase at a store in Smyrna.

Police said the man entered the GNC store on Industrial Boulevard around 2:50 p.m. on January 11. He made an $8 purchase, and used a counterfeit $50 bill. He left the store, came back a couple of minutes later, and asked for change for another $50 bill, which was also determined to be counterfeit.

The man also went to the Game Stop and Dress Barn in the same shopping center, attempted to get change, but was unsuccessful.

Officials said a suspect was brought into custody Tuesday afternoon and was being questioned in regards to the crime.
