DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn.- A Decatur County mother is behind bars, accused of abusing her 10-month old daughter.
Police said27-year-old Felecia Gray was charged with child abuse and neglect. Investigators said Gray told them she grabbed the baby around her waist out of frustration and violently put her in a crib.
Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said family members noticed something wrong with the baby the next day and insisted she take her to the hospital. Although Gray did take the child to the hospital, it was three day after the incident. Gray was arrested on Tuesday and was jailed on a $10,000 bond.
Doctors said the baby suffered from severe compression injuries and spinal injuries. She also had several broken ribs, damage to her spine and was malnourished. Officials said the child was improving -- but remained in the hospital.
