NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A controversy is brewing between local concert venue Rocketown and a former employee.
The problem started with a picture posted on Twitter of former employee Wes Breedwell. Breedwell claims he was fired after seven years at Rocketown for wearing a shirt supporting same-sex marriage.
Rocketown, a Christian based non-profit group released a statement saying an employee would not be fired for expressing opinions on marriage.
In part the release stated:
"At Rocketown we are welcoming and accepting of all youth. We reach out to all kids, are inclusive and very much care about acceptance of youth from different ethnicities, sexual orientations, financial backgrounds and religions."
The Tennessee Equality Project is also speaking out on the issue saying the stand behind Breedwell. They are calling on Rocketown to reverse its actions and make it clear that all are welcome at their music venue.
