WARREN COUNTY, Ky. (AP) – Deputies called to search for a missing man discovered the man had died while trying to cut down a tree on his land in southern Kentucky.

Searchers found the body of 65-year-old Peter Schofield on his land on Youngs Ferry Road around noon Tuesday afternoon. His wife had called for help when he didn't return home after leaving the house Tuesday morning.

Warren County Sheriff's Major Tommy Smith said dozens of searchers were combing the rugged 187-acre tract when they found Schofield's body. He had been struck by a tree he was felling.
