NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A group of radon cancer survivors gathered in Nashville Wednesday to raise awareness on the dangers of the gas.
Activists gathered at the third annual Radon Action Rally on the steps of the State Capitol. Simultaneous rallies were held across the United States in multiple states. Leaders said January is National Radon Action Month and they hoped the rallies would build increase the citizens' awareness and knowledge of the gas.
Radon is an invisible, odorless gas that can collect in any building, including homes, schools and workplaces. Every year about 22,000 people die from cancer caused by Radon.
Free radon test kits are available at the local Department of Environment and Conservation office.
