Texting While Driving Stop Leads To Shoplifting Arrests
NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Metro Police have arrested three people accused of shoplifting from the Mall at Green Hills.
Police said Charmette Pitts, Audrieanna Johnson and Rico Brown took thousands of dollars in merchandise from Victoria's Secret, Burberry, Kate Spade and J. Crew. The three were arrested after Pitts was pulled over the texting while driving. During a search of the car the stolen merchandise was found.
All the admitted to stealing the items from the mall. Police said Johnson and Brown were also found to be fugitives from Paducah, Kentucky, where they were wanted for shoplifting. Pitts also had a previous conviction for felony aggravated assault and theft in 2009.
According to police the investigation continues and additional charges are anticipated.
