NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The NewsChannel 5 Investigates team swept all investigative categories at Saturday night's MidSouth Emmy Awards, including investigative report, investigative series, journalistic enterprise and business/consumer reporting.
Investigative reporter Jennifer Kraus and producer/photojournalist Bryan Staples took home the Emmy for their investigative report that exposed the so-called "ghost voting" by members of the Tennessee House of Representatives.
Both Kraus and Staples also received the business/consumer Emmy for an investigation of HRC Medical Centers and the chain's potentially dangerous hormone replacement therapies.
Chief investigative reporter Phil Williams and Staples took home the Emmy for the investigative series that exposed the questionable practices of then-Davidson County Clerk John Arriola.
In addition, the Emmy for journalistic enterprise went to a collection of stories by the entire NewsChannel 5 Investigates team. That team also includes investigative producer Kevin Wisniewski, investigative reporter Ben Hall and producer/photojournalist Iain Montgomery.
NewsChannel 5 won more Emmys than any other Nashville station, including the highly coveted Emmy for overall news excellence.
