BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - A serious crash early Sunday morning took the lives of two Bedford County men.
Officials say the wreck happened around 1 a.m. on Highway 64 in Shelbyville. Investigators said the Toyota Tundra ran off the road, struck a culvert, and spun around and hit a tree.
The driver, 29-year-old Nathan Pugh, was killed along with passenger, 28-year-old Benjamin Ray. An additional passenger who was riding in the backseat, 22-year-old Andrew Clanton, survived the crash. He was in critical but stable condition.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said speed was a factor, and the driver had been drinking alcohol. Pugh and Ray are Bedford County's second and third traffic fatalities of the year.
