NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man driving on a revoked license struck and seriously injured a pedestrian Wednesday night in Madison, according to police.

Police said 43-year-old Gregory Capps was driving along E. Marthona Road around 6:30 p.m. when he struck 42-year-old Theresa Lawton. He told officers he did not see her.

An affidavit said officers found empty beer cans in Capps' vehicle after he admitted to having too much to drink. Police said Capps was taken for mandatory blood tests after failing sobriety tests.

They also discovered Capps was driving with a revoked license from a DUI conviction from 2009.

Capps was charged with vehicular assault and driving on a revoked license.

His bond was set at $100,000. A court date was set for February 5.
