NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A home near the Tennessee State University campus was destroyed by fire Thursday morning.
Flames were visible when firefighters got on the scene around 7:30 a.m. in the 3900 block of Geneva Circle, off 35th Avenue North.
Sky 5 HD showed heavy smoke and flames from the two-story house. Fire crews said no one was at home when the fire started, so no injuries were reported.
Two dogs were inside the home when the fire broke out; one was rescued by firefighters, but the other perished in the fire.
Investigators believed the fire started in an upstairs bedroom.
The fire does not appear suspicious, according to fire crews, but the Fire Marshal will investigate the cause.
