NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The art of Rembrandt and other Dutch masters is going on display at Nashville's Frist Center for the Visual Arts.

According to the museum, the exhibition comprises 73 paintings and 16 decorative pieces from the Detroit Institute of Arts.

It presents a survey of the art produced in the 17th century in the newly independent and prosperous Dutch Republic, setting the work of the great Dutch masters within the larger social, religious and political context.

The exhibition will open with a gallery focusing on Rembrandt, the most innovative, versatile and influential Dutch artist of the 17th century. Other paintings are organized around themes such as portraiture, biblical histories and peasant scenes.

"Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age" opens Friday and will remain on view through May 19.
